How to Add Texture to a Minimal Outfit
Texture can give a minimal outfit depth without changing its simple colour palette. Ribbing, knit structure, jacquard and other surface details catch light differently from smooth fabric and become subtle visual interest.
Use one textured focal point
A knit polo with simple trousers is often enough. If the top combines texture and pattern, keep the remaining fabrics quiet so the outfit does not become crowded.
Mix surfaces, not everything
Smooth denim, clean cotton-like surfaces and more dimensional knits can sit together because their differences are clear. You do not need additional graphics or multiple accessories.
- Texture works especially well in neutral colours.
- Use tonal dressing to make surface detail more visible.
- Keep fit clean so texture remains intentional.
- Follow care labels for textured knits.
